We started May with the Run for the Children. It was Lyra's first 3K and Celia ran the entire 3K! We ran into Jaime, Scott, and Grace again this year. We enjoyed catching up at the race and afterwards at Red, Hot, and Blue.



That night, we had a playdate with Thelma and Louise...I mean Celia and Lexi. We were able to enjoy Dan and Nique's new patio furniture (and s'mores!)

For Mother's Day on May 12, we celebrated by going to the Nats game (courtesy of my boss and his boss). Celia absolutely loved the game. I am sure the pink bats and shoes helped with that...It was Lyra's first game. We are not sure she was that excited.

My highschool has been celebrating its 50th year. As part of the celebrations, Jason and I both participated in the alumni band concert. It had been a long time since I really played my flute like that. I hit most of the notes...I think. It was great seeing some old friends! As the concert was late and there were multiple rehearsals, we brought the girls to one of the rehearsals. Celia thought it was too loud. Lyra had a great time!



Lyra is even more mobile now. She started climbing stairs on May 14.

There are some great benefits to having your own pool. My favorites are that the pool season can be a lot longer and the pool hours are whenever we want them to be. So, we kicked off pool (or at least hot tub) season in mid May. May 19 was Lyra's first time in a pool. She loved it!


Kelly and Chris had a great barbeque. The kids all enjoyed playing dress up.

At the end of May, we went on vacation on our way to Kelsey's wedding. We visited Jeannie and Marvin on our way up to New York City. We didn't let a little rain slow down our trip to Time Square.


Aunt Jenner joined us shortly after we arrived. We headed out to see the Sept 11 Memorial.


Celia and Lyra both enjoyed the subway.


After the Memorial, we went on a sailing tour of the city and Statue of Liberty (or the green lady as Celia called her).



We had a late night, but all enjoyed the view from the Empire State Building, which was very close to our excellent hotel suite.


Next on our vacation, we visited Ian, Wendy, Brielyn, and Ryan.  We started at CIA for lunch. After school let out for Ryan, we headed to a local sprayground.

After leaving Poughkeepsie, we headed to Mystic Seaport. It was nice, but not great. We admit we are spoiled by Williamsburg and Mount Vernon though...


Pam, Paul, Stephanie, Sam, Cameron, Caitlin, Mom, and Dad joined us that evening for dinner. The next morning, Mom and Dad visite the casinos while the rest of us went to the Mystic Acquarium. Renee, Xavier, and Vanessa also joined us at the acquarium. The acquarium was very nice.

 

 

After the aquarium, we decided we couldn't be in Mystic without a visit to Mystic Pizza. There were lots of pictures of Julia Roberts inside.


That night was Kelsey and Jeff's wedding. It was amazing to see Kelsey and Kevin after so many years. I think they will always be 6 and 3 in my head. The wedding was beautiful. We had a lot of fun with the photobooth during the reception.




On the last morning of our vacation, we headed to Rhode Island, one of six states Jason had not visited. Lyra had her first experience putting her toes in the Atlantic (or any ocean). Plus, we stumbled upon the carousel I wanted to find. The horse hang from the ceiling and almost "fly" as the carousel goes around.


We stopped again to visit a little more with Jeannie and Marving on the way back home. David was able to join us for dinner.
