We started October by returning to Red Hot and Blue to visit Ms. Arla. Lyra loves face paint, too!
Early in October, Jason and I had two date nights in a row as we went to Sherry's son's wedding and rehearsal dinner. There are so many great photos from the wedding and reception. Here are some of my favorites.

What is the best part of having your own pool? Taking a dip when you have a summer day in October! This was our last impromptu pool party of the year. The girls made so much progress in the pool -- others more than ours....
Celia went on her first field trip! Jason joined them since Lake Ridge Nursery is fairly close to his office. All was well until he was scolded for asking to buy the class popcorn, a choking risk. Did I mention they ate hot dogs for lunch?
Celia had homework a couple of times at the beginning of the year. Ms. Erin stopped sending home the journal and homework because too many parents were not returning them. Really?!?
Lyra has fun shopping with her daddy.
We went to Renaissance Faire. It was overcast and not too busy!
Zeke celebrated his 5th birthday on Columbus Day, which gave Jason an activity to take the girls to while I was at work. The pinata was a success!
I may be biased, but these kids are cute.
Jason headed to Northern Virginia Academy for the Open House. Last year, only two of the kids did not have parents there. This year, only two kids had their parents there.
The Government shut down in October. Although Jason and I both were supposed to be working, we decided we should take time off also. So, we headed to Charlotte for Jason's 20th high school reunion. We went to the homecoming football game (an experience since it started with a metal detector!)
We had fun with Nana on the playground and in the hammock chair.
We visited the Whiteheads and finally met Julia and Robbie.
We went to the reunion.
We went shopping. How did I talk them all into that? I am glad I did since I found Lyra while Lyra was asleep in the car!
Next, we drove down to Ted and Vera's. They have such a great house and beach! We were there for their celebration of Joe and Cindy's birthdays.
We had a lot of fun at Grandpa Joe's.
A trip to Grandpa Joe's would not be complete without a visit to the farm.
We went to a pumpkin patch to help Grandma Liz pick out a pumpkin.
We couldn't leave without more tractor rides.
Christmas is coming! Lyra is big enough to fit into Celia's first pair of elf pajamas!
Grandma Lyn joined Celia, Lyra, and me for some trick or treating in a nearby shopping center. Here are a couple of pictures we took before heading out.
As we were dressed as witches, it only made sense to have a witch pumpkin.
Shea had a Halloween birthday party to celebrate his 4th birthday. We all dressed up and had fun. Celia decided at the last minute to be a bride instead of a witch.
Halloween was so much fun! Lyra looked spooked at the beginning of the day.
The Halloween parade at this Northern Virginia Academy is different since the building is stand alone and not in a strip mall, but as cute as ever.
We were going to go trick or treating in Clifton, but did an audible after dinner and visited Ms. Tami's neighborhood...even though she didn't open her door. We finished at Grandma's. I think Lyra likes candy more than Celia.
